MAD ABOUT DICK !
"Freedom means freedom for everyone" - Dick Cheney
Marriage, being a contract that two people enter into willingly, should not be denied for any reason whatsoever to any willing participants. The Republicans certainly have done an excellent job in denying this fundamental protection to a large number of eligible families, and they should be derided for creating that barrier.
The topic of Mary Cheney's pregnancy is a hot topic in the gay community. Everyone wants to weigh in on the "issue". It is no doubt a reasonable discussion: How can her father, Dick Cheney continue to support and lead the Republican party while it attempts to deny her her fundamental freedom. And he should answer those questions.
However, the vile hatred (here, and here) for the V.P. has caused many of the gay community to forget that Mr. Cheney has been very clear on his stance on the issue:
Lynne and I have a gay daughter, so it's an issue that our family is very familiar with. ... With respect to the question of relationships, my general view is that freedom means freedom for everyone. People ought to be able to free -- ought to be free to enter into any kind of relationship they want to.
John Kerry on the other hand ...
If the Massachusetts legislature crafts an appropriate amendment that provides for partnership and civil unions, then I would support it
I personally believe marriage is between a man and a woman
Mr . Cheney should be called to task for his party's actions. But personal attacks are unwarranted. The Democrats should be called to task for Mr. Kerry's remarks.
Dick Cheney was elected to office by biggoted Americans who believe they have the God-given authority to control how other people live their lives. Dick Cheney doesn't give a rat's ass about the LGBT community. Just because he has a dyke daughter doesn't make him a P-Flag dad. And I use the word "dyke" to describe Mary Cheney because she's an opportunistic cunt who is the worst scab on our community's reputation along with Jim McGreevey.
